Each style tells a unique story

The Nigel Cabourn Year of Invention collective set, consists of a convenient and functional 3-Pack of t-shirts, intended for everyday use.

Presented in a recyclable cardboard presentation box, each t-shirt has been crafted from a different type of spun yarn, in order to honour a different generation within the textile industry.

Therefore, each of the t-shirts has slightly different features from one another, representative of the original style from that era.

No. 1 : Open End Spun Yarn

A t-shirt with raglan sleeves and a chest pocket. Crafted from Open End Spun Yarn, a technique which was first developed in the 1950’s. This method of spinning involves fibres being fed into an Open End Spun rotating machine. Whilst in the the machine, the staple fibre is spread, gathers air, and is spun around in the rotating turbine. Due to this centrifugal force, a versatile fibre is created that is dry to the touch.

No. 2 : Ring Spun Yarn

This style of t-shirt has a double stitched neckline and reinforced armpits. Ring Spun Yarn was originally developed in the 1830’s, and is the oldest and most basic method of yarn spinning. Before then, it would have been made using a spinning wheel. The process involves twisting and thinning the cotton strands, to make a very fine, strong, soft rope of cotton. Ring Spun Yarn is considered to be extremely durable with a soft hand feel. 

No. 3 : VORTEX Spun Yarn

The VORTEX Spun Yarn t-shirt has contrasting stitching along the neckline, with a shallow crew neck. VORTEX Spun Yarn is a new form of Japanese technology, which consists of two-segmented structures. Invented in the 1990's, the centre of the yarn is surrounded by the staple fibre. As the fibre cannot twist, the breaking thread process does not happen. This is considered to be the newest and most innovative technique, as vortex spun yarns have lower hairiness, and better piling resistance. Ultimately, producing a soft finish to the garment.

EU* (Excluding Russia) & The Rest of World - Apparel only orders over £350.00.

Home & Interiors - Orders over £600.00

We now collect the VAT based on the country from which you place your order.

UK Shipping - £8.50 + VAT on all orders within mainland UK except furniture. 

Services to Russia

Due to the ongoing situation surrounding Russia, we shall not be offering shipment of any of our products to the country.

Whilist we are closely monitoring the events and circumstances, this shipping suspension will remain in place for the foreseeable future. However, should there be any further changes to this development, we will keep you informed.

Import regulations and duties

If you order goods from our site for delivery outside the UK & EU they may be subject to import duties and taxes which are levied when the delivery reaches the specified destination. You will be responsible for payment of any such import duties and taxes. Please note that we have no control over these charges and cannot predict their amount. Please contact your local customs office for further information before placing your order.

In the unlikely event that you are not entirely satisfied with your purchase, please contact us within 14 days of receipt and we would be happy to assist you with your return.

If you would like us to arrange your return shipment please get in contact. The cost of the return will be deducted from your refund or invoiced separately.

Custom & Personalised orders

We cannot accept returns on any made-to-order or customised pieces. However, we are of course more than happy to accept returns on pre-order items and in stock products.
