FOX x CORGI : A Collaboration of Historic Proportions

FOX x CORGI : A Collaboration of Historic Proportions

The FOX x CORGI collaboration came to fruition after a pleasant excursion to Ammanford, Carmarthenshire. A much rural and spirited area of Wales, where the further afield you go, the more likely you're to be greeted with a cheery welsh "Bore da", rather than the more monotone "good morning", usually served up throughout Mother England.

As we set off, the journey paved the way for some rather picturesque and awe-inspiring views, through the long and winding roads of Carmarthenshire, Wales. Trudging past the historic ruins of Penlle'r Castell, we encountered numerous abundant docile sheep, bobbling across the hillsides and muddy fields.

We soon arrived at the Corgi factory and entered through the main entrance, with its big brown doorway. Upon entering, it was apparent that some of the cars outside were perhaps considered more revolutionary pieces of modern-day technology, compared to one area of equipment within Corgi HQ itself, as we were welcomed to a haven of tradition and craftsmanship.

The timeless allure of Corgi brings creations to life with highly skilled and dedicated craftspeople, using a combination of traditional methods and specialised machinery.

Later on our tour of the Corgi factory, we were pleasantly surprised to learn that the country has somewhere in the region of 10 million sheep. That's something like a 3:1 sheep-to-people ratio within Wales. So, what could be a more fitting British collaboration between the renowned cloth makers of Fox Brothers' and seemingly Corgi's home within the land of sheep.

For over 130 years, Corgi has been expertly crafting within this little Welsh community, using traditional and modern practices that are unique to Corgi. Bringing together age-old techniques and methods, passed down from long standing members of the family, to the now younger generation of crafts makers.

If you're not aware, Corgi received royal recognition in 1989, when it was granted a Royal Warrant by the Prince of Wales, who is now of course HM King Charles III. This esteemed recognition reflects the unwavering dedication to quality and craftsmanship that is synonymous with Corgi.

From cotton to cashmere, Corgi certainly know how to craft a fine knit, and with that, we'd like to introduce you to to the first piece in our FOX x CORGI collaboration, the Dark Royal Blue Cashmere Roll Neck Pullover.

A sumptuously soft turtleneck presented in deep blue with traditional detailing. Warming and comfortable through its cashmere composition, and built to last through its 8 ply construction.

This particular roll neck was inspired by a piece in Mr. Cordeaux's wardrobe. A much favorited and trusty garment over countless autumnal and bitterly cold winter seasons.

A colour fit for royalty, as the United Kingdom has been embracing its new era under HM King Charles III, blue has emerged as the shade of the moment.

Blue also has a vibrant history with the throne, and rumour has it that the term 'Royal Blue' started in the early 1800s, when the shade was allegedly on show during a dress competition for Queen Charlotte. Today, blue still rules the royal roost, with the King and Queen often seen donning the striking colour for a variety of high profile events.

Produced from the finest, sustainably sourced cashmere, to provide each piece with a beautiful softness, warmth, and enduring style. Only the highest grade of quality cashmere goes into creating each pullover, which is taken from the underbelly of Himalayan goats, living high up in the mountains.

The cashmere fibres used are on average only 16 microns in diameter, or one quarter the diameter of a human hair. They are processed and dyed within the UK by a specialist cashmere yarn manufacturer, before being knitted into undeniably one of our most exquisite pieces of knitwear in our AW24 collection.

Made with classic styling in mind, the FOX x CORGI Dark Royal Blue Cashmere Roll Neck Pullover has been designed and crafted as an investment piece. A garment made as it should be from natural resources, whilst also honouring traditional craftsmanship.
